Established in 1991 as the “Kutaisi Institute of Law and Economics,” Kutaisi University has evolved into Georgia’s premier private university. Founded by Valerian Kelbakiani and Revaz Laghidze, it transitioned to the Kutaisi University of Law and Economics in 1992 and adopted its present name in 2010. A member of the European University Association since October 29, 2021, Kutaisi University is distinguished for its commitment to high-quality education. The university houses two faculties—the Faculty of Social Sciences, Law, and Business, and the Faculty of Medicine—offering eight programs in both Georgian and English.
